4/18/22 World Championship Robotics Team using 3D Printed Parts

Helping Support STEAM Through 3D Printing

For the past few years, we’ve collaborated with local high schools to support S.T.E.A.M. education. One of the biggest partnerships has been with Wheeler High School’s FIRST Tech Challenge teams, known as the CircuitRunners (Team 1002).

Meet Their Robot: Cheese Grater

This robot was named Cheese Grater — a fully custom design built by the students. They modeled 95% of their robot from scratch using CAD software, aiming for peak performance in competition.

Everything shown in red and blue was 3D printed. The team had ambitious ideas, but lacked the print capacity to bring it all to life. That’s where we came in.

Over 30 Parts in 2 Days

Our print farm manufactured over 30 custom parts in just two workdays — including arms, brackets, and spacers.

On the World Stage

As a sponsorship, we printed all parts free of charge. The CircuitRunners went on to compete at the FIRST World Championships, earning finalist status for the prestigious Design Award (only 6 of 168 teams receive this honor).

Beyond 3D Printing: CNC Machining

They also requested us to CNC Machine their aluminum side plates, with metal they provided we were able to have that done same day.
